Faith and actions work together, our faith is made complete by what we do (James 2:22). A person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone (James 2:24).
A foolish man wants faith without works (James 2:20), can such faith save him? No! Such faith will never repent and submit to immersion in water (Acts 8:36) for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38). Thus remaining eternally dead (James 2:17)
Only a genuine, honest, pure and seeking soul will love Christ enough to obey Him in his faith. He will do so to receive the forgiveness of sins in the watery tomb (Rom 6:3-4), to be added to His church (Acts 2:47) and to forever remain faithful (Rev 2:10) in Him created for good works (Eph 2:10).
The faith of a true believer is not for pride, boasting and merit, for one can never earn his salvation. Rather he does so for the love he has for the risen King, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the Son of God, he will keep His command (Mark 16:16).
This is why it was credited to Abraham as righteousness. His faith was strong enough to lead him into obedience, showing God he loved Him.
