Throughout the years I’ve sat down with various souls deceived in falsehood. Many times I’ve heard them say to me “Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.” (Acts 26:28)
For some wish not to realize the fact they are lost along with all whom they love, but how can you teach loved ones out of error if you indeed remain lost with them? Or how does one justify his sufferings within erroneous beliefs? (1 Peter 3:17). Such is an impossible task. And though being a good moral person is required of us, truth be told none of us are good (Luke 18:19, Rom 3:12), all have sinned (Rom 3:23) and must obey the gospel in order to find pardon within the plan of redemption predestined and written for us, let the reader know. Obedience is not a works of merit but rather a submission to the Creator of all life (James 4:7). Belief and repentance is done by your own accord (Luke 13:3), but baptism in water (Acts 8:36, 10:47) is something done to you, a spiritual circumcision (Col 2:11-12) adding you to the church Christ bled for (Acts 2:47).
You shall never have your sins washed away/salvation (Acts 22:16) without being clothed with Christ (Gal 3:27), only your obedience in submission to the Almighty and His commands will give such a result (Acts 2:38).
The doctrine of “Faith alone and once saved always saved” is a dead faith, watered down grace birthed from the minds of men resulting in eternal punishment, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” (James 2:17)
Hebrews 11 teaches us that faith/trust in Christ brings good works, not only to salvation but also to continued faithfulness (Rev 2:10).
Seek truth (Matt 7:7, Luke 11:9), ask questions with a pure heart (Acts 2:37, 8:31) and you will find freedom from the error that once ensnared you. Today is your day to become a Christian and a Christian only.
Come hear the truth on all matters of faith (Rom 10:17)
The churches of Christ salute you (Rom 16:16)
